Apple Announcement at “Lets Rock”
Almost on the ball here, but various sites have run the stuff that came out of the Apple press event. Most of it seems to have been announced already, though there were pretty pictures to accompany it this time.

Valley wag went for the “Steve looks slim approach” to the story”, where as the BBC decided to fill in with some “neutral” reporting of the facts; “Apple unveils thinnest Ipod yet“. Finally there was a little hate coming from Cult of Mac who didn’t seem totally blown away, going as far as saying “Well, apparently Apple and I have very different definitions of “big news.” Because all the organization delivered was more of the same”
The news appears to have received very mixed reviews but a brief summary of the announcements are below, though most shouldn’t catch you by surprised if you’ve been lurking around the net at all of late.
- 4g Nano - With new shake to shuffle function, thinner body, more environmentally friendly construction material. 8gb are expected to retail @ £109 and 16gb @ £149.
- Genius function for itunes, which takes one song and creates a play list based on the users library and suggests tracks for them to download on itunes store.
- *My personal favourite* Iphone software update “free” to all owners that’s reported to fix a lot of bugs including dropped calls and connection problems. Something that my 1st Gen iphones been experiencing a lot of since the last update. I know a few people as well that have encountered some problems with their new 3G iphones too. Hopefully this will fix it, though I don’t think I’ve quite forgiven them for 2.0 that brought my itouch to its knees for about a week or so.
All in all a pretty quiet update with none of the usual “spectacle” that accompanies an Apple press announcement. Let’s see what they come up with for the next one, feels like they have something up their sleeve and this may well have to do with their revamp of the Mac book line-up.

I don’t think there will be a revision to the MBP line up until the new Nehalem (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nehalem_(microarchitecture)) is available in large enough quantities. I remember seeing a nice picture somewhere of a MBP with something more akin to a MB keyboard (which is no bad thing IMO)..
