Report From The Front
It has been a little while since a proper update so I guess I should do a little run through. As you can see on the left hand side I’ve added a flicker bar and added some photos to it. There are photo’s from the trip so far as well as a few photo’s that have featured in various posts along the way.
The weekend was initially filled with travelling, 17 hours of it! What fun - but when we arrived it wasn’t actually that bad, the hotels all right and we were able to grab a fairly decent dinner over the road with some pretty kick ass company. Dinner was filled with some good conversation and a few beers, can’t really complain before crashing out and passing out in bed.
Sunday:
Time difference meant was up at a crazy hour, but I was able to catch the football on the radio. God bless BBC radio!! Then it was out for an afternoon of shopping and spending faaar to much money. Oh well that’s why you do these things. Tomorrow begins the work portion of this trip with lots to be done, be a busy couple of days but well worth it.
I should also be able to reveal a little more about where I am and why I’m here over the next few days as well so stay tuned!

I saw this today : Heath Ledger’s death triggers net meltdown
Obviously the title’s a little dramatic as we all know that the net didn’t ‘meltdown’ but it’s certainly interesting indication of the way that news spreads through the net. I know I heard through rumours on the net (via my housemate) that it had happened then started looking at the various news sites to see if it was true. The article also comments on Steve Irwin phenomenon was the last time this was really seen. I think what captures the ‘imagination’ for lack of a better word on this sort of thing is the unexpected nature of the death of high profile celebrities. There are certain media darlings that I think people would be less surprised if they were found dead in some drug fuelled excess…but Mr. Ledger certainly seemed on an ever keel (subject to how you feel about the rumours of what he went through to create his take on the joker) and there in lies the reason for people’s reactions…
Read the article it’s interesting state of statistics on searches etc…
